Moses’ pride led him on a detour to nowhere. He found himself in the desert land of Midian. There he was a foreigner, a failure, and a fugitive. Gone were the pomp, circumstance, and luxuries of Pharaoh’s house. Whereas he had once been a son in Pharaoh’s palace, now he was reduced to being a lowly shepherd in the desert (Ex. 3:1).
